How it gets under 100KB
- It tries the highest quality first and checks the size.
- If the file is too big, it searches for the best quality that still fits.
- If quality alone isn’t enough, it lowers the resolution a little and tries again.
- You get the sharpest JPG that is under your limit.
Other common limits
The same tool works for any limit. Change the number in Max file size:
| Limit | Where you often see it |
|---|---|
| 20–50 KB | Signatures and thumbnails on government and exam forms |
| 100 KB | Passport-style photos, job portals, application forms |
| 200–500 KB | Profile pictures, marketplace listings, school portals |
| 1–2 MB | Email attachments and website uploads |
Questions
Will the result always be under 100KB?
Yes for nearly every photo. If quality alone can’t get there, the tool lowers the resolution step by step until it fits. If it ever can’t, the file is marked so you know.
My image looks blurry. What can I do?
Crop away anything you don’t need first, so the pixels go to what matters. If the form also lists dimensions, set them with the resize tool before compressing.
Can I use a different limit?
Yes. Type any number in the Max file size box, such as 20, 50, 200 or 500 KB.
Does it work for signatures and ID photos?
Yes. Check the form’s other rules too, such as required dimensions or a white background.
Is anything uploaded?
No. Everything runs in your browser, and your files never leave your device.
